Induced Chirality in Confined Space on Halogen Gold Complexes
2015
The solubilization of HAuCl4 in toluene within optically active reverse micelles and lamellar structures formed by (1R,2S)-Dodecyl(2-hydroxy-1-methyl-2-phenylethyl)- dimethylammonium bromide (DMEB) has allowed us to evidence the complex phenomenology accompanying the confinement of Au salt within these nanostructures. Together with a chloride/bromide exchange process occurring in the first coordination sphere of an Au ion, UV−vis and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra reveal the appearance of an induced dichroic signal attributable to Au complexes entrapped in the hydrophilic domain of the DMEB chiral nanostructures. Interestingly, change of the effective oxidation state and coordi…
Local structure of A-atom in ABO3 perovskites studies by RMC-EXAFS
2020
The measurements of Sr K-edge XAFS were performed under the approval of Proposal No. 97G042 of Photon Factory (KEK) and partially supported by the Research Grants of Hirosaki University. This work was supported by Bruce Ravel providing data for BTO. Boby Joseph acknowledges IISc Bangalore and ICTP Trieste for financial support through the award of the IISc-ICTP fellowship.
Synchrotron Radiation-Based Micro-XANES and Micro-XRF Study of Unsuccessfully Produced Egyptian Blue from the Late Hellenistic Production Site of Kos…
2021
International audience; This paper examines the production technology of Egyptian blue, an ancient artificial pigment, through the investigation of an unsuccessfully produced pellet derived from the Hellenistic production site of Kos (Dodecanese, Greece). This heterogeneous material was investigated by a combination of laboratory and synchrotron radiation-based (SR) techniques: scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive Xray spectrometry, micro-Raman spectroscopy, high-resolution SR micro-X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, and SR micro-X-ray absorption near-edge structure spectroscopy (XANES), at the ID21 beamline of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility. Principal comp…
Local structural investigation of hafnia-zirconia polymorphs in powders and thin films by X-ray absorption spectroscopy
2019
Björn Matthey (Fraunhofer IKTS, Dresden) is acknowledged for providing HfO2 and ZrO2 powders on short notice after DESY’s renowned customs office punished us. Parts of this research were carried out at Petra III at DESY, a member of the Helmholtz Association (HGF). The experiments on single Si:HfO2 thin film samples were performed at the CLAESS beamline at ALBA Synchrotron with the collaboration of ALBA staff. We would like to thank Edmund Welter for assistance (in using beamline P65) and DESY for enabling this research for proposal no. 20160591 and for travel support. T.S. acknowledges the German Research Foundation (DFG) for funding this work in the frame of the project “Inferox” (project…
Planning in Collaborative Stigmergic Workspaces
2011
The paper investigates how the engineered capabilities of structuring the knowledge encoded in collaborative workspaces affect the collective intelligence of its users. The investigation is made for the particular case of collaborative planning and is grounded on the theoretical framework of stigmergic systems. The knowledge structure encoded in collaborative workspaces in the form of a conceptual hierarchical task network is analysed by building a multi-agent simulation to evaluate the performance of different planning strategies. The results show that different representational complexities of collaborative planning knowledge have a great impact over the collective intelligence when the u…
Full multiple scattering analysis of X-ray absorption near edge structure at the Eu L3-edge in EuO
2004
Abstract X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) at the Eu L 3 -edge in crystalline EuO is interpreted within full multiple scattering (FMS) formalism. Our theoretical results, based on the ab initio self-consistent (SC) potential calculations, are in good agreement with experimental data. The main features in the experimental signal are reproduced taking into account a cluster of about five coordination shells, centred at the europium atom and having EuO structure. An addition of more distant coordination shells makes features only better resolved. The relatively high intensity of the peak, located just above the Eu L 3 -edge, indicates that 5d states are well localised. Comparative a…
Cultural intelligence, global mindset, and cross-cultural competencies: a systematic review using bibliometric methods
2020
We conducted a systematic review of 158 publications on Cultural Intelligence (CQ) and related concepts, Global Mindset (GM), and Crosscultural Competence (CC) using bibliometric methods. We apply citation analysis to highlight the most influential (in terms of citations) journals, publications, and specific researchers in the field. We apply factor and cluster analyses to analyse co-citations to identify the current knowledge structure in the research field. With content coding on the resulting groups of co-citations, we identify five research streams showing the overlap between the CQ, GM, and CC constructs, and also revealing the separations in the research on the constructs. We perform …
Observing heme doming in myoglobin with femtosecond X-ray absorption spectroscopy.
2015
International audience; We report time-resolved X-ray absorption measurements after photolysis of carbonmonoxy myoglobin performed at the LCLS X-ray free electron laser with nearly 100 fs (FWHM) time resolution. Data at the Fe K-edge reveal that the photoinduced structural changes at the heme occur in two steps, with a faster (∼70 fs) relaxation preceding a slower (∼400 fs) one. We tentatively attribute the first relaxation to a structural rearrangement induced by photolysis involving essentially only the heme chromophore and the second relaxation to a residual Fe motion out of the heme plane that is coupled to the displacement of myoglobin F-helix
The complementary structural studies of the double metal cyanide type catalysts for the ring opening polymerization of the oxiranes
2016
Przeprowadzono badania strukturalne katalizatorów dimetalocyjankowych (DMC) z dwoma rodzajami ligandów organicznych. Zaproponowano wyjaśnienie etapów przebiegu krzywych otrzymanych metodą analizy termograwimetrycznej i różnicowej kalorymetrii skaningowej (TG/DSC) badanych katalizatorów.
Uptake of actinides by calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) phases
2018
Abstract The sorption of actinides (Th, U – Am) was studied in dependence of the solid-to-liquid (S/L) ratio (0.5–20.0 g/L) and the calcium-to-silicon (C:S) ratio. The C:S ratio was varied between 1.80 and 0.70 to simulate the changing composition of the C-S-H phases during cement degradation from high to low C:S ratios. The decrease of the calcium content in the C-S-H phases by time is accompanied by a decrease in pH in the corresponding suspensions from 12.6 to 10.2. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) of the C-S-H phases showed an increasing depletion of Ca on the surface with increasing C:S ratio in comparison to the composition of the solid phase as a whole. The sorption experiments…
